Image databases for art and design Opinions from ACADI members about how subscription image banks such as ArtSTOR, Bridgeman Education and Education Image Gallery compare in terms of cost, coverage and image quality. A list of current image database subscriptions from ACADI members’ institutions was distributed to the list.
Image management software A table has been compiled listsing the systems used by ACADI members to manage their image collections. Both database and user delivery applications are detailed, together with the metadata standards used in the projects.
Art and Design students’ questions about copyright. Various points of view were offered about how legislation and licences could apply to the incorporation of newspaper cuttings and other copyrighted material in collaged artworks.
Courtauld Image Collections Public access the image archives will be reduced as cost-cutting measure. The Witt Library, Conway Library and Photographic Survey will restrict opening to one day a week from September. There are concerns that the archives will not be able to sustain systematic image collection .
